Prefinished “Kissed Edge” Flooring

Prefinished Flooring

A "Schafer Prefinished Floor" offers the opportunity to have a truly unique floor in your home.

The difference is the size of the bevel between boards in your floor.

Almost every prefinished piece of flooring made in the world has a bevel.  The bevel is the area between every board in the floor.  Prefinished flooring manufacturers have to cut these bevels into their flooring so that the floor will lay flat when it is installed.  If this is not done, you would have a higher risk of stubbing your toe or ripping your sock as you walked across their floor.

The size of the bevel is an excellent indication of the quality of the manufacturer.   A small bevel indicates a manufacturer that focuses on quality.  When you are feeling samples of prefinished floor, run your hand across the sample.  The "bumps" that you feel are the bevels between each board.  Flooring with smaller "bumps" is a better quality product than one with larger "bumps".

Schafer Hardwood Flooring Company flooring has one of the smallest bevels in the industry.

Here are some of the advantages of our prefinished flooring over standard beveled flooring:

  • Our flooring allows less opportunity for food and dust to settle between the boards making it easier to maintain your beautiful new floor.
  • A larger beveled floor will let more moisture into your floor if you spill liquid on the floor. Over time, this moisture could dull or even peel your finish. Our flooring minimizes the amount of liquid that could penetrate into your floor.
  • Our flooring has an aluminum oxide finish that is UV cured for a beautiful, long lasting finish that is covered under our 25 year limited warranty.

The quality of a prefinished floor can be felt by the size of the bevel.

We hope that you can feel the quality of a Schafer Prefinished Hardwood Floor.
