Scott Schafer, founder and president of SHFC, realized early in life his passion.

“ Creating architectural masterpieces that will be appreciated for generations” was the ambition behind the start of the company, then known as Schafer Woodworks Inc.

Architectural Millwork for the finest homes in Southeastern Michigan was our beginning.

As our following of customers grew from our beginning in 1981, we realized that a missing piece was  “Quality” hardwood flooring.

 Our custom production of hardwood flooring was an instant success. Orders grew rapidly, and the decision was made to focus at least 90% of our efforts on the production of the “highest quality hardwood flooring available anywhere”. 

Schafer Hardwood Flooring Co. was born!

Today, we have over 40 craftsmen and women producing “architectural masterpiece flooring” for projects around all of North America.

The same quality standards we became known for 30 years ago are the quality standards we follow each and every day.
