Unfinished Engineered

You need to purchase engineered flooring if you are installing the flooring over concrete, over a radiant floor heating system or if your room is below grade. This is due to the wider variances of moisture that exist in concrete and with floor heating systems.

Our Unfinished Engineered Flooring is truly a unique product in the market place. We have changed the manufacturing process of our flooring to provide a more stable product in these moisture challenged environments. Here are the advantages of Schafer Engineered Hardwood Flooring over our competitor’s products:

• All three layers of our engineered flooring are from the same kiln dried lumber that we use in our solid flooring. This means our engineered flooring is more stable than our competitor’s product which uses plywood, baltic birch or oil based products.
• The top wear layer on our engineered flooring is a full 3/16”, which is the same as our solid hardwood flooring. This means our engineered flooring will last as long as solid flooring under normal use and wear conditions.
• The grain on the middle layer is perpendicular to the top and bottom layer. This will greatly improve the stability and limit seasonal expansion and contraction.
• The ¾” thickness matches standard moldings and vents.
• Widths from 3” – 8”. Very few manufacturers make an engineered product wider than 5”.
• Hand Scraping of this product is available.
• You can nail or glue this product over concrete, plywood and OSB subfloors.  
• You can also glue this product over radiant heat systems.
• This can be installed above grade, below grade or on grade.
• Our engineered flooring is finished at your location in a natural finish or any number of stain colors.
